Alexandrov – choir, orchestra and ballet of the Red Army in Stožice

The renowned Russian military choir, orchestra and ballet Alexandrov Red Army Choir is coming to Stožice in November. The choir is a symbol of Russian culture, performing traditional Russian, folk, military and patriotic songs and Russian dances with 120 singers, dancers and musicians. A spectacle for the eyes and ears, the choir with more than 80 years of tradition includes top singers, musicians, dancers and artists.

Choir Alexander Red Army Choir besides Russian national and patriotic songs also performs world opera arias and works of classical music. Winston Churchill, however, characterized the choir as 'Russian singing weapon'.
It is in Slovenia that the world-famous military choir is starting a special memorial tour in memory of its deceased members in a tragic plane crash December 25, 2016, in which it is 64 members of the orchestra died, including the artistic director. There was a gathering established with the task of raising the morale of the Russian troops, and it is named after its first conductor Alexander Vasilievich Aleksandrov – to the author of the Soviet anthem, which with the changed text also remains the Russian anthem. The military choir is one of the best male choirs in the world, all members have an academic musical education, and from time to time he is joined by a female soprano and a boys' choir. In addition to classical instruments, the orchestra also includes traditional Russian musical instruments, such as the balalaika and domra, and the dancers perform Russian folk and military dances.
