What should I see in the Algarve?

Uh, where do we start. Not far from Lagos there is an interesting coast with reddish cliffs and natural arches and caves called Ponta Piedade. Descend all the way to the coast, which is protected by high rock walls and stretches all the way to Cape Sv. Vincent. This is the most south-western point of Europe, and not only that, the cliffs below are also breathtaking, descending as much as 75 meters into the depth. The cape, where the lighthouse from 1846 stands, offers a picturesque view of the rocky coast. Cabo de São Vicente was once considered the end of the world, which is not hard to believe, as it is surrounded by strong winds and extraordinary, rocky surroundings.

When describing the south of Portugal, we must not forget the beautiful beaches, one of them is Praia Falesia, represented by seven kilometers of golden sand and a series of mighty cliffs in the background. In the off-season, it is a romantic option for walks, and in the season it attracts bathers from all over the world who sunbathe on the hot sand. It also offers a bunch of secret beaches Praia da Rocha, which is also popular among surfing fans. Riding the waves is one of the most attractive activities that the Algarve has to offer. The waves are suitable for both beginners and experienced surfers, and you can find suitable waves all the way from Lagos, Sagres to Albufeira.

As mentioned, there is no shortage of interesting coastal caves, which are a real feast for the eyes. The Benagil Caves border the Atlantic and hug the beautiful sandy beaches, and you can also see them on guided boat tours, where they are shown in all their glory. If you want even more nature, then drive to Parque Natural da Ria Formosa, which consists of canals and islands, and on them you can find a lot of animal species.

When night falls, the coastal towns turn into meccas for lovers of music and entertainment as well as excellent cuisine. Lagos, an idyllic seaside town with many historic buildings during the day, wakes up at sunset and offers a colorful selection of night entertainment. On the other hand, Tavira is suitable for anyone looking for some peace. This fishing village offers an insight into the traditional life of the laid-back south, and you can experience delicious cuisine in the local family-run restaurants.
