The annual Kinodvor na Kongresni trg 2020 will be a tribute to important historical anniversaries. The free event will take place from August 11 to 13, when cult films will be shown. What will we be able to see?
The opening night on Tuesday, August 11, will be held this year in a sign 75th anniversary of the end of World War II. They will play Chaplin's masterpiece The Great Dictator (1940), a satirical critique of Nazism, in which Charlie plays the dual role of a good-natured Jewish barber and the dictator of Tomania, Adenoid Hynkel.
The following evening, Wednesday, August 12, they will pay their respects centenary of the birth of the legendary actor Yul Brynner. We're going to watch an iconic western The Magnificent Seven (The Magnificent Seven), with which director John Sturges transferred Akira Kurosawa's classic Seven Samurai to the Wild West in 1960.
The last evening, Thursday, August 13, will be celebrated the centenary of the birth of the giant of Italian cinema Federico Fellini. With a film screening Rome (Roma, 1972), a love letter to the city the director named "the most beautiful film set in the world", will make an introduction to the fall retrospective of Fellini's films at the Slovenian Cinematheque. The screening is part of a series of international Fellini 100 events promoted by the Italian Ministry of Culture to mark the centenary of the director's birth.
Free screenings are scheduled every day at 9 p.m. Entry to the venue is only possible with a ticket. Tickets can be picked up at the venue entrances from 8 p.m. onwards.
