Are we addicted to stress?

Too often people wear stress as a badge of honor and humility, when we "brag" about how little sleep we had last night, what a busy and busy weekend we had, and how busy we are that we can't afford a vacation yet. This lifestyle seems to have reached epidemic proportions. Some experts believe that our close relationship with stress is partly our own fault. Indeed, many of us are actually addicted to stress. Are you one of those people who are numbed by stress?

Stress addicts are said to look for as many opportunities as possible to miss deadlines or get excited about upcoming work commitments, as if they were cigarettes, coffee, alcohol or drugs. The good news is that there are ways to end this unhealthy relationship. As with all addictions, the first step is for the addict to admit it.

"Hit" from stress

Stress is a biological process that has evolved to help us. Hormones when they are adrenaline and cortisol, are secreted when we are in dangerous situations. But things start to get complicated when both hormones are present in our body for a long time. Chronic stress ensures that both adrenaline and cortisol continue to circulate in the body. Not only that it destroys our hair, skin, heart and digestive system, but also addicts us - and we want to keep doing it.
In order to get through all the obligations and thus avoid boredom at work, we find ourselves in the phase of longing for additional accelerations created by adrenaline, thus damaging our system even more.

Also company encourages such addictions. We all have friends who are "busy" or even "crazy busy" all the time. It is in our heads "busy" equivalent of "importance", and in addition, smart devices ensure that we are always up to date with everything that is happening, whether we are at dinner or on vacation.

Of course, we must not forget about money. Our own value is measured in euros and in the society where we are considered to be worth as much as our wallet weighs, we humans are putting more and more effort on ourselves.

At the core of this addiction, however, there is also a problem resistance to work on oneself, in deeper and more personal levels. If we get busy with as much work as possible, we don't need to think about bigger and personal issues or problems. And this is a good indicator of what we humans are capable of avoiding ourselves.
