Psychologists have long been interested in whether there are any significant differences between people based on where they are in the birth order. And various researches have discovered many interesting things.
There are certain similarities between people in terms of which children are in order of birth. They are similar in certain personality traits, motivation and ambition. Some studies, however, say that birth order is somewhat predictive of intelligence as well.
The oldest children thus have better results on intelligence tests. V to this research they found that it was birth order strongly correlated with how we perform on cognitive tasks. This connection is not only present in children, but it stays later too, when we are older.
What is the reason for this? Very likely that does not mean, that the oldest children are simply born smarter. It is more likely that the oldest children have developed cognitive abilities because they parents treat them differently during a crucial period of their lives.
With the first child, parents are usually scared and unsure of their approach and that's why they devote more time and energy to the search for "correct" education and education. For example, some research has shown that parents of older children they read more and they play more variety of music, which also has an impact on the development of cognitive abilities.
