At the official world presentation of the Audi A8, we already made a concrete announcement, but now we had the opportunity to sit behind the wheel of this newest road cruiser from Ingolstadt. For the quattro drive and hydraulic chassis, today's snowy conditions were perfect for testing the driving characteristics.

The design of the new Audi A8 is as striking as ever. It has grown in length by 37 mm, is taller by 14 mm, and the wheelbase is longer by 6 mm. The A8 is a little narrower this time, by 4 mm. With this, they gained 14 mm of additional headroom, 28 mm for legs and 36 mm for access to the rear seats. A framework with technology Space Frame consists of 58 % aluminum, and the other components are made of magnesium, carbon fiber and extremely hard steel. They sting in the eyes LED laser headlights, which have in the light characteristic X and blue colored the laser part of the headlight. With this technology, under the right conditions, the headlight can shine just right 600 meters far away. The taillights are in LED- and OLED technology, with OLEDs consisting of 135 LEDs and four OLED elements.

The interior of the new Audi A8 has taken another step towards digitalization. In addition to the central digital display, the driver has two more screens on the central dashboard in 10.1 and 8.6 inches. Through them, we manage the navigation, air conditioning and other functions of the car. Navigation is supported by the latest NVIDIA graphics processor, and the smart radio automatically selects between Internet, DAB, FM or AM radio, depending on the strength and quality of the signal. The most luxurious place in the Audi A8, of course, it is on right side back. Those who let themselves be driven have the best conditions for work or rest there. All the essential functions for his better well-being are at his disposal via the 5.7-inch portable tablet. You can adjust the air conditioning, sound system, entertainment content, check the route, speed and more.
The new Audi A8 has a built-in 48 volt electrical system, which acts as a sort of mini hybrid system. It helps the Audi A8 to start, use the start-stop system and save up to 0.7 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. Air suspension is already available as standard, but this can be rewarded with a dynamic one 4-wheel steering and Audi's AI active chassis. At the beginning of sales, they are intended for the Audi A8 two 3-liter engines. Diesel with tag 50 TDI quattro has 210 kW (286 hp) power, gasoline 55 TFSI well 250 kW (340 hp) powers. The diesel version costs from 108,000 euros, and the gasoline one from 107,500 euros. If you decide to extended L-version, the surcharge amounts to approx 6,000 euros. The L-version is 13 centimeters longer than normal. The list of additional equipment is long and thus the final price of the car can increase significantly. Audi plans to sell 40 of their luxury and technically advanced sedans this year.
