Apple and Pecan Crostata is one of the best fall desserts that is hard to beat. Our guests will be impressed by the beautiful appearance, crispy crust and divinely juicy interior of the French pie, which goes extremely well with fragrant cinnamon tea...
With autumn comes apple time, which also perform very well in form crispy crostata. This time we started baking a little more exotic, as we replaced classic walnuts with South African pecans, which are considered one of the healthiest nuts.
Apple Pecan Crostata Recipe
Ingridients
For the filling:
- 80 g of softened butter
- 70 g of sugar
- 1 egg
- 80 g pecans (½ ground)
- 50 g of flour
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- 3 sweet apples
- juice of ½ lemon
For the dough:
- 230 g of flour
- 60 g of sugar
- pinch of salt
- 130 g of butter
- a spoonful of water
Preparation of crostata with apples and pecans
First, let's start preparing the test. Sift flour into a bowl, add sugar and salt. Cut the butter into pieces and spread them over a pile of flour. Knead with an electric mixer, then add the egg yolk and a spoonful of cold water. We continue to knead until we get smooth dough. Form this into a ball, which put in the refrigerator for half an hour.
Heat the oven to 200 degrees. Wash, peel and cut the apples into slices, which we throw into a bowl and sprinkle with lemon juice. In another bowl, mix the butter and sugar until foamy. Add the egg, ground walnuts, flour and cinnamon to the mixture. Mix well again.

Flour the counter and roll the dough into a circle. Then put the dough in a greased pan and cover it with the filling. Make sure the edges remain empty. Arrange the apples on top of the filling and carefully wrap the empty edges. Sprinkle whole walnuts on top and place the crostata in the oven. Bake for approx 40 minutes.
