Balmain x Maluma: music and fashion intertwine in the new collection of the French fashion house

The entire collection can be described in two words: Miami Vice.

A few days ago, French fashion house Balmain and Colombian reggaton star Maluma announced the new Balmain x Maluma collection on their official Instagram profiles. See how the collection managed to capture the colorful world of Miami and what it looks like when classic French design meets Caribbean spirit.

A lively collection Balmain x Maluma found inspiration in the picturesque city of Miami, home of award-winning singer Maluma. The fashion pieces were primarily intended for the artist's next music tour, which was postponed due to the global pandemic with COVID-19.

Pink sunsets, neon graphics and golden shades are the first thing that comes to mind when someone says Miami Vice. It is these images that can be seen on the fabrics designed together by Maluma and Balmain's creative director, Olivier Rousteing. “I've always wanted to work with Balmain, but this journey was even more exciting because Olivier motivated me to work with him to design and create pieces that I would wear in my everyday life. We'll introduce you to high fashion with a dose of Papi Juancho," Maluma said in a press release.

We will be able to see in the new collection, which represents a combination of classic and tropical t-shirts with graphic prints in neon colors, retro palm trees in "Miami Vica" colors and hoodies with similar retro motifs. There are no missing threads tailored men's suit, bomber jacket with a colorful print and high sneakers.

Maluma's love for the Balmain fashion house has been going on for years. Last August, he appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards in a neon green Balmain suit. Given the mutual admiration these two artists have, we believe this is not the last collaboration we will witness.
