BBC Live Lounge - renditions of famous songs that are better than the originals

5 of the best BBC Live Lounge covers of recent months, songs that have been heard hundreds of times and will be as pleasant a refresher for your ears as a quick jump into the sea after frying on the beach (let's face it, these days we're all in our heads already in a bathing suit...).

BBC Live Lounge is a project of British radio stations BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra with the beginnings in 2006, during which well-known musicians sing their songs or other musicians' songs in an acoustic performance in the relaxed atmosphere of the BBC studio. The covers, which are sometimes more, sometimes less fortunate, are collected on YouTube at the following BBC Live Lounge playlists. Listen to a selection of some of the best covers of the past few months below.

1. Miley Cyrus – Summertime Sadness

There is no summer without melancholy Summertime Sadness Lane Del Ray, performed by Miley Cyrus, impresses us for two reasons. The first is that Miley surprises us with a truly admirable vocal that sounds much more confident and sensual compared to Lana's. The second is that Miley sings the piece wearing a black pullover, which, compared to her usual outfit, which reveals more than it covers, is also a surprising fact.

2. Foxes - Happy

Happy by Pharrell Williams is probably one of those songs that has the most covers on YouTube. Cute British Foxes she combined it with the song Teardrops by Massive Attack and convinced even Pharrell himself with this performance. Even so much so that a few days ago the news circulated that he had invited her to his tour. Thus, the singer whose real name is Louisa Rose Allen will warm the audience at as many as 25 concerts of Pharrell's European tour, and the closest stops will be on September 18 in Vienna and September 20 in Milan.

3. London Grammar – Wrecking Ball

Miley Cyrus is definitely one of the most performed musicians in the BBC's "living room". In addition to London Grammar, Wrecking Ball also sang Haim there, and Bastille performed We Can't Stop in their own way. Wrecking Ball performed by a young man of the British trio London Grammar, which is steadily gaining more and more fans, sounds completely different thanks to the deep voice of singer Hannah Reid, but it's up to you to decide which performance touches you more.

4. Little Mix – Holy Grail/Counting Stars/Smells Like Teen Spirit

Do you think it's possible to combine Jay Z, One Republic and Nirvana in one song? At first glance, they achieved the impossible Little Mix and create a mix that will involuntarily sing in your head. Here's hoping Kurt isn't turning in his grave.

5. Clean Bandit – Royals

Clean Bandit, who became famous with pieces of Rather Be, completely transformed the song by singer Lorde. Don't be fooled by the quiet violin at the beginning, this faster electronic rendition of Royals is sure to energize you.
