The best travel destinations in 2020 were also found at National Geographic. And apparently, next year we'll be watching seals in Québec, roaming around Hungary, and braving the highest bridge in China's Guizhou Province.
"The world is waiting for you. Where are you going?" So your own top travel list starting with National Geographic, where they went on the hunt for the best destinations of 2020. "Best Trips is our annual list of tips on where to travel, what to know and how to see the world in the year ahead," says George Stone, executive editor of the magazine's travel section. "National Geographic editors from around the world participated in compiling the list, as well as photographers, writers, researchers and, of course, passionate travelers who reported on the places we must see and visit in 2020."
The list was then divided into 4 categories: culture, city, nature and adventure.
Best Travel Destinations 2020: Culture
Good eaters should give it a go in 2020 to Asturias, where cabrales and fabada cheeses are waiting for you in the caves, or in Mendoza, where two-thirds of Argentina's wine is produced. History buffs should check out the Turkish archaeological site Gobekli Tepe, the oldest religious site in the world, discover history of the Mayans in Guatemala (e.g. Tikal National Park) or go on a wander around the architectural legacy of Ramses II. in Abu Simbel in Egypt.

National Geographic suggests skipping Ciudad de México and heading to a bustling city instead Puebla, where colorful architecture from colonial times and 365 churches await you. In Europe, they suggest visiting a Czech city Calf, Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Parma in Italy.

Otherwise, National Geographic recommends jumping into a less visited region Tohoku in Japan and to the island Kamchatka, where a snowy landscape and peace await you.
