How close are you to your best friend? Has your relationship changed over the years? It is quite typical to see best friends almost every day as children, teenagers and students, but over the years, as we become busy with work, family and other adult responsibilities, our meetings become less and less frequent. It can happen that we move to different cities, countries, even around the world, which means that friendships are more difficult to maintain and can be lost very quickly.
Obviously, this is not the case for everything it illustrates a group of best friends, who went to great lengths to maintain their lifelong friendship. They built it your little town, where they will grow old together.
Four couples they've been best friends for over 20 years, but like many adult friendships, they soon realized that seeing each other was getting harder and harder. They decided that they wanted to live closer to each other and that on more environmentally friendly way. To achieve this, they raised money and built their own little town near the Llano River, just outside of Austin, Texas.
Each of the four cottages in their small settlement Llano Exit Strategy, it cost about 40,000 US dollars (about 36,000 euros). They were designed by architect Matt Garcia, and the purpose was to bring them as close as possible to sustainability. Each has a pitched roof, walls that keep the heat out in the summer, insulated windows and water barrels that can hold up to 19,000 liters of rainwater. The best friends are thinking of retiring here and living a good old age!
Would you too build your own city with your best friends? What would yours be?
