For smartphones, 2017 has been quite an eventful year so far, colored by many novelties, astonishing innovations and the struggle for users. But the year isn't over yet, as there are likely to be some great smartphones on the way, such as the Google Pixel 2 and Huawei Mate 10. Are you up for a look at what Apple, LG, Samsung and others have prepared for us so far? This is a selection of the best smartphones of 2017.
So far, 2017 has been quite the eventful year for smartphones. Smartphones are thus becoming the main media devices on which we spend more than 5 hours a day. This is also why it is not surprising that computers are becoming more and more and less and less just phones. Let's see what they have prepared for us...
We present to you a selection of the 12 best smartphones of 2017:
1. LG V30
LG's most beautiful smartphone
LG V30, which somewhat resembles Samsung's Galaxy S8 in appearance, adorns 6-inch Quad HD OLED screen with 18:9 aspect ratio and with a nicely curved edge. This makes the LG V30 significantly easier to use than its predecessors, the V10 and V20. It is driven by nothing but Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, for ongoing operation Android Nougat is powered by 4 GB of system memory. It has a built-in 64 GB of space, which you can s add another 128 GB to the microSD memory card. The back, which has a dual camera s 16 or 13 million pixels, is protected by Gorilla® Glass 5. And here is the biggest difference with the predecessor, because the back can no longer be removed, which means that batteries with 3300 mAh you cannot replace. LG V30 has on front camera with 5 megapixels and 90-degree photo capture mode. The phone was also equipped with wireless power supply and water resistance.
2. SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE8
A delicacy among smartphones
Featuring 6GB of RAM, a 10nm processor and up to 256GB of expandable memory, the Samsung Galaxy Note8 is also equipped with a larger infinity display, an improved S Pen for personal communication, and Samsung's best camera yet. The 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display is the largest in the Note family to date, but the narrowness still fits the hand extremely well. The Samsung Galaxy Note8 is equipped with two cameras, boasting 12 million pixels and optical image stabilization on the wide-angle and telephoto lenses. On the front, you'll find another camera that comes with 8 megapixels and smart autofocus.
3. NOKIA 8
The legend returns
Nokia is back with a product that, on paper, looks like a top class smartphone. So a phone that hides the Snapdragon 835™ in its guts – a processor built into some of its direct competitors. It has 4 GB of working memory, while the internal memory for data is 64 GB and can be expanded with a memory card up to 256 GB. The device is decorated with a 5.3-inch IPS LCD QHD-screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1440, which is protected by Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5 level. The battery is average-sized, but definitely not small, and has 3090 mAh and supports fast charging. It is charged via the already standard Type-C connector. But the story does not end here. NOKIA has chosen optical specialist ZEISS as its photography partner.
4. IPHONE 8 and IPHONE 8 PLUS
For lovers of the classics
iOS 11 is said to be the most tested and polished operating system ever. With its help, the new iPhones will work like never before. Both phones are sort of upgrades to the existing sevens. The newcomers are microscopically resistant to dust and water. Both front and back are covered by the most durable glass ever used for a smartphone. They have the new A11 BIONIC processor installed, which is the most powerful and fastest processor in any Apple phone to date. Many innovations revolve around the camera. This one now has 12 MP, and the two cameras on the Plus receive as much as 83 % more light. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available with 64 or 256 gigabytes of space and, like the iPhone X, support wireless charging with support for the QI protocol.
5. ONEPLUS 5
High quality, low price
The OnePlus 5 is available in two versions, a cheaper one with 64 GB of space and 6 GB of memory, and a more expensive one with 128 GB of space and 8 GB of memory. The phone, which is loaded with the latest version of Android 7.1.1 and has an Oxygen OS user interface, is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835, the most powerful processor at the moment. But the advantages do not end there. Perhaps the best feature of the One Plus 5 is its camera. The wide aperture (f/1.7) allows significantly better manipulation of light and focus. You will be able to view photos on a 5.5-inch Full HD Amoled screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. A slightly lower screen resolution (compared to better 'smartphones') comes at the expense of better battery life.
6. SAMSUNG GALAXY 8 AND GALAXY 8+
No competition?
The Galaxy S8 and S8+ bring a new level of functionality and comfort, opening up a galaxy of possibilities, with a variety of services and applications as well as a stunning infinity display for an exceptional viewing experience. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ build on Samsung's legacy of creating stunning designs and functional devices. There are 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch models available. The Infinity Display features a stunning edge-to-edge display that flows over the edges of the phone to form a completely smooth and continuous surface, with no bumps or bezels. The result is a truly immersive, distraction-free viewing experience that makes multitasking much more convenient. The unique design of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ allows for comfortable, one-handed operation, while Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides of the phone ensures durability and superior finish. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ feature an advanced 8 MP F1.7 front camera with Smart Autofocus and a 12 MP F1.7 Dual Pixel rear camera with enhanced image processing for low-light, zoom and blur-free photos.
7. LG G6
Minimalism that impresses
The LG G6 is an infinitely beautiful and extremely minimalist phone. And the latter feature will set him apart from other standard bearers. It seems that the South Korean manufacturer has done everything right this time and prepared a phone that impresses. We highlight the large 5.7-inch screen, which occupies practically the entire front surface of the phone and thus provides an exceptional user experience. Also with a unique 18:9 screen ratio that allows you to have two applications open at the same time. Although the screen is larger than its predecessor, the phone is smaller in size and fits perfectly in the user's hand. It seems to us that this dimension is the ideal dimension for a smartphone. The LG G6 camera has two lenses for superior photo capture. Of course, the LG G6 is waterproof to the IP68 standard and has a fast-charging battery. Excellent!
8. SONY XPERIA XZ1 AND XZ1 COMPACT
A range of outstanding innovations
Both phones feature the latest Motion Eye™ camera to record details beyond the capabilities of the human eye and new 3D scanning technology. The Sony Xperia XZ1 has an Exmor™ RS image sensor with built-in memory that ensures exceptional photo quality. The front camera is 'enriched' with 13 million pixels and screen flash for good results in low light conditions. The Xperia XZ1 is powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 835 processor with X16 LTE, which provides extremely fast Gigabit LTE transfer speeds (up to 1 Gbps). With Sony's BRAVIA TV technology, the Xperia XZ1 brings more color and contrast for you to admire on the 5.2-inch Full HD screen. The Xperia XZ1 Compact is the standard-bearer among compact smartphones. With a 4.6-inch screen, it is extremely convenient. It is equipped with all the latest Sony technologies. The XZ1 Compact is IP65/IP68iv water resistant and has a strong structure with fiberglass reinforced plastic material and Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5.
9. IPHONE X
The future of smartphones
The iPhone X has a new OLED or Super Retina Display and a resolution of 2436 x 1125 pixels. It's the iPhone's highest resolution yet, and the screen actually stretches from edge to edge of the phone. The so-called "home" button has gone bye-bye, and instead of it, we will now just swipe up or left and right on the screen if we want to "multitask" between applications. Apple is also discontinuing Touch ID and replacing it with Face ID. The advanced face scanning system has gone so far as to scan the face in 3D technique and will not be able to be fooled by just a photo of the face. The iPhone X's 12 MP camera will be able to record footage in 1080p HD resolution at 240 frames per second. 4K recording will also be available. The big innovation is wireless charging, which uses the already known QI protocol. The new iPhone X will be available in silver and space gray with a capacity of 64 or 256 gigabytes.
10. XIAOMI MI MIX2
Alongside the biggest for half the price
Like its predecessor, the Mi Mix, Xiaomi's Mi Mix 2 sports a huge display with no bezels on the top and sides. This means that the screen is actually edge to edge on the side of the phone. Mi Mix 2 has a 5.99-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18 : 9. The phone is powered by a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, which works in cooperation with 6 GB of RAM and 64/128/256 GB of internal memory. Under the cover we also find a battery with 3400 mAh, which is powered via the USB-C input. Interestingly, the Mi Mix 2 only has a single 12-megapixel camera on the back of the phone.
11. HTC U11
It's not just a touchscreen
The phone responds to palm pressure. You read it right! The device doesn't actually bend, but its sides are the ones that call up various functions and applications with a squeeze, a feature HTC called Edge Sense. HTC is setting new standards for what we expect from a smartphone. The HTC U11 is powered by a mobile platform Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, assisted by 4GB of system memory (RAM) and a 3,000mAh battery that should last an average of 30 % more than its predecessor in the U10, but the question is how it will perform in practice. Up front, a 5.5-inch Quad HD 3D glass screen glistens, designed for vivid, sharp images and text in all lighting conditions – even direct light. The smartphone packs a 12MP primary camera and a 16MP high-resolution front-facing camera with UltraPixel light sensitivity technology for stunning selfies both day and night. In addition, the HTC U11 is waterproof, so you don't have to worry about spilling anything.
11. HUAWEI P10 AND P10+
An excellent student
The Huawei P10 definitely built on the reputation of its predecessor, which was definitely one of the best phones of the moment, and reinforced the manufacturer's promise to make the best products on the market. The cooperation with Laica continues, so it is guaranteed that you will get really good photos with the P10. Huawei also cooperates with GoPro, so it adds a few more "candies" to the mosaic. Of course, there's also the extraordinary range of colors unique to this smartphone. And excellent guts, which boasts a processor designed for its own needs. Connoisseurs will therefore find it easier to believe that Huawei really knows how to tune its hardware well. This is also why it often seems that this particular brand gets a little more out of Android than the competition.
