Biennale Musica 2016 in Venice will celebrate its 60th anniversary this year. Biennale Musica, also known as the international festival of contemporary music, will take place from October 7 to 16, 2016. The director of this festival, which combines electronic, jazz, folk and other genres of contemporary music, is Ivan Fedele. Salvatore Sciarrino, Kaija Saarihao, Pascal Dusapin, Kotzuga, Ryo Murakami and KL4NG will perform at the festival. Tickets are already on sale.

This year's lifetime achievement award winner (Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement) is Salvatore Sciarrino, winner of the award for new musical talent (Silver Lion for Music) but he is a Japanese creator Ryo Murakami.

The special focus of this year's Music Biennale will be on Italian creators of different generations. Among others, it will be possible to listen to creations Giacomo Manzoni, Azio Corghi, Sylvan Bussotti, Claudio Ambrosini and Stefano Gervasoni. Part of the program will also be filled by American musicians, especially those who make their own music is not defined by one genre, but they freely move between genres and complement each other. They will introduce themselves David Lang, Julia Wolfe, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Tyondai Braxton, Nico Muhly, Judd Greenstein and others.
In addition to music, Biennale Musica also touches on other artistic fields. Orchestra concert Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain, consecrated To Gérard Grisey, will contrast the Australian artist's paintings with music Andrew Quinn. Other concerts of the festival will deal with the topic of attitude to tradition.
