There are about 7 billion people on our planet and about 7,000 different languages, but half of the population speaks one of only 23 languages. An interesting infographic by Alberto Lucas Lopéz shows the relative size of the speaking population for all languages that exceed 50 million speakers.
In the infographic we can clearly see how large a part the Chinese-speaking population occupies compared to the other languages, since it occupies more than billion population. It is an obvious fact that also stands out 848 million speakers, who speak Mandarin (a Chinese dialect), representing more than half of the multilingual speaking population English. Lopéz then distributed the results geographically and then found that Arabic is spoken by a large number of countries, while Japanese is spoken only by The Japanese.
