Have you heard of Bodrum? If not, it's high time…
Bodrum is a Turkish resort where a number of stylish new hotels and clubs have recently opened. Surrounded by luxury resorts along the turquoise Aegean Sea, this stretch of Turkish coastline is popular with even the biggest stars, so it's high time you visited.
Bodrum; Turkish luxury
Bodrum, a luxury resort in Turkey, is synonymous with luxury, elegance and unforgettable holidays. The city, located on the southwestern coast of Turkey, along the Aegean Sea, is a popular destination for visitors from all over the world who are looking for the ultimate experience of living and enjoying the beauty of nature, rich history and modern conveniences. Among the newest and most prestigious hotels in Bodrum, Maxx Royal Bodrum stands out, a sprawling complex spread over 11.4 hectares. This luxury hotel offers superior accommodation, gastronomic delights and numerous activities to satisfy even the most demanding guests.
Bodrum's glittering renaissance began ten years ago with the opening of the Mandarin Oriental, followed by the Aman, Six Senses and EDITION outlets. The latter, nestled in Tilkicik Bay, at the western point of the peninsula, has attracted a number of famous and wealthy individuals from the world of music, sports and film to the region. The perfect coastline, the crystal clear Aegean Sea and the privacy the bay offers have attracted everyone from Kate Moss to Jeff Bezos. One of the resort's three restaurants – KITCHEN – has just received its first Michelin star.
Night events
Bodrum is not only known for its luxury hotels, but also for its nightlife. Tatler magazine called it a hedonistic hot spot in its 2024 travel guide. With streams of champagne and music from renowned DJs, it's not hard to understand why. Bodrum has been generating 1% of world tourism since the mid-70s, when the previously profitable industry collapsed and the 650 m2 area turned to tourism. Local attractions, including the ruins of the Mausoleum (one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World) and the 15th-century Bodrum Castle, also helped.
Mick Jagger, Bill Gates, Bette Midler, Chuck Berry and others spent their time here. In 1979, when the infamous Halicarnassus Discotheque opened its doors, Sting, Yves Saint Laurent, Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock also lined up here. After a brief lull, Bodrum 2017 is back in style with the opening of Yalikavak, Turkey's most glamorous yacht marina. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also visited it that year. The couple spent five nights in a private villa overlooking Yalikavak Bay.
Roman Abramovich's Solaris superyacht was also spotted in the mentioned marina in April. Last month, however, Kate Moss landed at the Med Bodrum festival, where she enjoyed the company of Bob Marley's grandson. So what are you waiting for, get your plane ticket and see for yourself.
