Christmas ads have become part of the culture. Every year, advertisers come up with complex and expensive ads that often inspire people or become the topic of conversation. But recently there has been a reversal. Some people don't think it's right that companies spend millions upon millions of euros to get an ad full of celebrities while ordinary people struggle to survive. This simple yet incredibly powerful production by Phil Beastall went viral precisely because of its message. Christmas is not a time for flashy corporatism, but a time for family and the best Christmas gift is the one with real meaning.
This Christmas ad, which was already created in 2014, stood just £50, which is converted to around 57 euros. Phil Beastall decided to share it again on his Facebook this year, in response to an ad John Lewis starring Elton John.
“I love making films and telling stories, and in 2014 I decided to make a short film that would mean something to people,” said Phil. "Ultimately, I wanted people to take a moment and realize how lucky we are to be here, and to remember that even though life is hard at times, we our careers and materialism do not define us. Family comes first and it's important to look out for each other.”
The video instantly went viral, and Phil was so surprised that he posted more video with commentary to such a strong response.
