Eighteen-year-old Eva Mavsar is graduating from the High School for Design and Photography, art high school - fine arts. At the same time, he is also studying industrial design. As the winner of the creative competition of the insurance company Vzajemna, she put a unique and imaginative "coat" on the exterior of the Opel Corsa, which people notice from afar. He draws his creative inspiration from his love for nature, animals and his love for music and everything alternative. Youthful charm, research, will to live and optimism are virtues that we are happy to see in her.
How did you come to apply for Vzajemna's creative competition?
We went with the school to see the industrial design biennale. Mutual had its stand there. A friendly lady spoke to us and invited us to participate. She offered us crayons and gave us a challenge. My classmates and I sat down at the table and started drawing like in kindergarten. In this work, I remembered my school assignment on the topic of the city - the countryside, which earned me an excellent grade. I have only expanded this work here. We then sent our creations to the competition with absolutely no expectations. The win got me a car for a while, which is very welcome considering I recently passed my driving test. It is interesting that the classmate, with whom we were playing with the samples at the same time, took second place in the competition.
What are the feelings that overwhelm a person when they win a competition?
Shock. I entered the competition completely by accident and without expectations. During the competition itself, I checked several times how many votes my car had, but I did not expect to win. After receiving the award, the organizers confided in me that the emphasis was on freehand drawing, which was definitely mine. I liked it so much that, in addition to an excellent grade at school, I also received a used car for my sample.
Where will the new car take you?
I already have a few requests from my classmates who want to go on the trip, so I will have to put together a schedule. But since I will have to pay for gasoline myself, we will share the costs. The grandmothers will certainly come to our aid here and "squeeze" a few euros. We are definitely going on a trip to the sea or to Bled,...
Inspiration…
I find it in different places. In addition to nature, I am inspired by the works of other designers. Inventing something completely new is difficult these days. The works of good designers, painters, architects always inspire me, because I see greatness in them. I always find that I could add some detail of my own, my stamp. That's how I get an idea that I explore and create something new in the process. I really like the work of the Austrian artist Hundertwasser. He gravitated towards nature. In his houses there are no straight lines, corners, the floor is not flat, it is full of colors and interesting shapes. I like massive and natural materials in design. I want to become an architect, explore interior design, play with industrial design...
Do you sometimes get ideas from other areas of culture?
Culture in the broadest sense gives me the will to create. I respect everyone who thinks with their own head, put something on stage, in public and managed to express themselves in this way.
Are you really proud of any of your creations?
I made a very interesting birdhouse according to the principle of ready made design. This is a design in which you use already existing objects and give them a new utility. So my house was created from a ladle and a coffee pot. I am also satisfied with the overall image for the Videomania festival - a youth film festival, which I also developed for a competition.
Is design your only passion?
Of course, I am also fascinated by music. I played classical guitar for ten years. I am a bass player in the band Artznie. The drummer and I are permanent members, while the band's line-up changes. Every year we have a carnival concert. I am also active in the guitar orchestra of the music school Vič - Rudnik, with which we are preparing for a performance at the Philharmonic in March. I will never stop playing. If I compare designing to playing the guitar, it gives me more freedom to express my ideas. When playing the instrument, I play the classic works of the great masters. Of course, interpretation is very important here, but I play someone else's "ideas", and I have all the reins in my design, from my own idea to execution, and this gives me greater freedom of expression.
