The extraordinary voice of the Spanish star of flamenco and Latin music, Buika, stuns us because of its roughness and at the same time gentleness, with which we feel as if we are listening to "rough velvet". We will be able to listen to her multi-awarded rich and dark vocals, which some even compare to Nina Simone, on October 27 at Cankarjev dom.
María Concepción Balboa Buika (Buika for short) is a singer of Spanish roots who currently lives in Miami. Born to African parents in sunny Palma de Mallorca, she was gifted with an extraordinary voice: its roughness and at the same time gentleness take us to another world full of secrets and passions.

Because of the rich and dark "rough velvet", as some call her vocals, Buika is one of the biggest stars today flamenco and latin jazz, and she is even compared to three exceptional singers: Nina Simone, Chavela Vargas and Cesaria Evora.
Buika actively collaborates with a wide range of international artists, instrumentalists and singers, but she herself knows no stylistic limitations. In 2011, we were in the film at the invitation of the director The skin I live in, we could hear as many as two of her compositions. The multi-awarded artist received a Grammy for the best album and production for the album Niña de Fuego (2008), for Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz Album however, her last album La Noche Más Larga (2013) was also nominated. The charismatic singer will perform in Cankarjev dom October 27 at 8:30 p.m, and tickets priced from 17 to 29 euros are available here.
