If a few years ago the hottest and trendiest form of camping was glamping - a glamorous, luxurious way of enjoying nature, the basic part of which are sophisticated motorhomes, superbly designed, technologically sophisticated and design-polished trailers, today's trends tend in the completely opposite direction.
New forms appeared camping, which return to the most basic, modest forms of spending a holiday in nature. The current response to the economic and social reflection of the times we live in are changes in our habits, values, priorities and lifestyle. If we look at some of the freshest, new forms of camping that mark this year, we cannot overlook the fact that they are closely related to the economic, political and social climate that surrounds us and directs our way of life. The time of glamour, expensive and prestigious material goods has more or less passed, and thus most of the new trendy forms of camping are actually a return to nature and to the basic forms of spending time in nature.
In nature
Bumping is a relatively new English term for basic camping. Its basic aim is to travel and tent with a minimum amount of luggage with only the most basic equipment. Lovers of the wild and unspoiled bet on gorilla camping, which is more radical and drastic. It is a primal experience of nature outside the fenced areas intended for legal camping. They leave virtually no trace behind, and nature remains untouched. Although among the new forms of camping mostly simple, already ascetic forms appear, a technologically up-to-date form has also found its way among the trends - geek camping. It was only a matter of time when the technology of smartphones, tablets and satellite navigation would color and determine the way of spending free time in the wilderness. High-tech gadgets, the most advanced camping gear and satellite navigation are must-haves in geek campers' bags.
Frugal
Recently, in England and elsewhere in Europe and even in the USA, it is one of the most popular and trendiest forms of vacation in nature frugal camping. Loosely translated, the word means modest, economical, and in the spirit of the times, there are more and more supporters of this type of leisure time. The basic idea of the new trendy camping is simple: local farms, pubs, beer halls, winegrowers, bars with craft, handicraft and traditional products and others in the countryside, which offer guests a free 24-hour post or overnight stay. Guests are not obliged to buy anything from the hosts in return, and a French survey found that 93 % visitors actually buy the hosts' produce: honey, wine, cheeses, milk, meat products, olive oil, organic fruits and vegetables, and more. This is how the network of outposts in the rural environment, Brit Stops, has spread in Great Britain, which already contains more than 150 addresses, all the way from the Highlands to Cornwall and from West Wales to the coast of East England.
Personal tourism
The purpose of this form of tourism is to promote direct contact and a positive relationship between tourists, vacationers and producers of local goods and those who offer certain services in the community. At the same time, promotion of the diversity and wealth of different regions to the wider population is spread through this interweaving. This raises the visibility and understanding of regional products and culinary tradition, both within the country and abroad. In any case, it is about the promotion and development of sustainable tourism through the connection with local communities. In this way, a more personal form of tourism is developed that connects hosts and guests. It's not just about being immersed in an authentic, local atmosphere, it's about getting to know rural places and regions through more personal narrative stories that locals share with guests. It is certainly priceless to fall asleep under the auspices of the family farm, where you are woken up in the morning by grazing animals, or among the vines in the vineyard, and to spend the evening in the company of the winegrower listening to his stories.
Guest friendly
The English borrowed the model from the successful French project France Passion, which has been active for many years. They publish a guide once a year, which is regularly supplemented with new hosts, and this guide is helpful to tourists, as it makes it easier to plan their vacation. If you would like to spend your vacation in this way, all you have to do is buy a sticker online, a kind of vignette that you stick on the windshield of your motorhome or trailer, and with it you prove that you are a member of the network. The annual vignette (the usual term is from March to the end of February next year) costs 25 pounds, and when you join the network, in addition to the vignette, you also receive an annual guide to all the outposts. It is a family, couple or individual friendly form of vacation in nature, where you get to know many places, as one stop can be no longer than 24 hours. The only downside to frugal camping is that it's reserved for RVs and trailers only, and no tents are allowed.
Following the France Passion plan, which has long been working for the common benefit of local food producers and vacationers, the project has now also come to life in Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Germany and even in the United States. In this year's French guide, there are already more than 1,750 rural outposts where they receive guests free of charge. Especially in England and the USA, "modest communities" have developed that provide information about this way of camping, but at the same time, online stores are also growing that offer sample products that have a lower price than regular ones, because in this way we save something. Blogs and websites offering advice on this hot new trend are springing up like mushrooms.
Tickling
The influence of the 2011 bestseller 50 Shades of Gray by EL James even extends to leisure. According to her example, tickling camping has developed, which most often takes place either in the wilderness or in special camps, where it is permissible and acceptable.
Frugal camping with neighbors and around the world
If you would like a slightly different vacation this year, but at the same time our wallet is modestly thin, frugal camping in neighboring Italy might be the right solution. All we need for a holiday is a motorhome or trailer, basic equipment, a few euros in the wallet and a vignette to use the Italian outposts included in their network called Fattore Amico. It includes as many as 475 farms in 90 Italian regions. More information on the back page www.fattoreamico.it.
