Adrian Kingsey-Hughes, a blogger for ZDNet, found that wireless charging shortens battery life. He expects to reach 500 charges, which should otherwise be sufficient for 3 years of operation, after only 20 months.

The problem lies in the fact that in the case of wired charging, the phone is powered by the cable, while during wireless charging, the phone uses its own battery. The wireless charger only increases the percentage of the battery that is charged. This is exactly why the phone is under load even while charging. As a result, the battery is in increasingly worse condition.
