Leap second - 2015 got an extra second

On June 30 this year at 23:59:60 (1:59:60 Slovenian time), time will stop for a moment. Literally. This power belongs to the IERS (International Service for the Rotation of the Earth and Reference Systems), which after a three-year hiatus revived the leap second, with which the "custodian" of the standard accepted time (UTC), the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures, will harmonize ' "our" and Earth time (UT1), which on average does not need exactly 24 hours to rotate around its axis.

5th Bled Cup in winter swimming 2015 in Lake Bled

Lake Bled will host the fifth Bled Cup in winter swimming on Saturday, February 21, 2015, starting at 11 a.m. The micro-location of the now traditional competition, which grew out of the World Championship in winter swimming, which took place in Bled in 2010, remains the same - the outdoor swimming pool of the Grand Hotel Toplice. The organizers expect the lake to have a refreshing 5 degrees Celsius during the competition.

Red Bull Paper Wings 2015: paper airplane competition in Slovenia

Paper airplanes usually fly around classrooms, but in mid-January, as part of the Red Bull Paper Wings World Paper Airplane Throwing Championship, they will also fly in selected locations in Ljubljana, Maribor and Portorož. The paper airplane spectacle is returning to our airspace, which will be hosted by 79 other countries scattered across four continents, and their national champions will compete for the world title in Salzburg.
