The Ionian Islands are considered the greenest of the Greek islands, and Zakynthos is certainly a discovery for nature lovers who don't want to miss out on good fun. The island is known for its beautiful white sandy beaches. Animal lovers will watch with interest the turtles that lay their eggs on the south coast of the island in July and August.
Our new experience should be the way nature shows itself; colorful, blooming and vibrant. Let's put on sunglasses, open the windows, turn up the music, dance into the new day and drive out of the gray city into the embrace of nature.
Let's drive along the coastal highway to the Karst. From the highway, we drive towards Sežana, through Vipava, where we can see the Zemono manor from afar on a vine-covered hill. The mansion was built in the Renaissance style of Venetian villas in 1683 and is surrounded by a typical arcade corridor from the outside, while its interior is decorated with luxurious frescoes.
In fact, no one will tell us exactly where the borders of Provence are. We simply feel it and know we are there. The hypnotic blue of lavender plantations, the smell of rosemary, the unusual beauty of wild nature, the powerful north-west mistral wind, magnificent medieval fortresses and castles, romantic villages on hills, melodious Provençal dialect, fashionable life by the sea.
The famous Gardaland is far from being the only amusement park worth visiting in our neighbor Italy. Recently, parks have also experienced a great boom in Italy, so that the region of Emilia Romana alone has more than 25 amusement parks with very different contents.
From early spring to late autumn, we are everywhere accompanied by the intoxicating smell of maquis, a typical Corsican undergrowth consisting of many Mediterranean herbs. In the language, culture, dishes, French and Italian inspiration flow, and yet, throughout the island's varied and rich history, the people have preserved their unique and special nature.
Drive along the coastal highway all the way to Črne Kal and turn right at the exit for Socerb. After a few kilometers, we arrive at the small village of Socerb, which lies on the border between Karst and Istria and is known for the castle of the same name, which dates back to the 15th century.
The path takes us to the Vrtojba border crossing and then further in the direction of Trieste until we see the sign for Devin (Duina) on the right. This leads us to the fishing village of Devin, with charming houses and the mighty Devin castle in the center of the village.
