Neighboring Croatia is increasingly being written on the map of world tourist attractions. Travelers know it mainly from Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian islands, and due to its proximity and similar history, we Slovenians are "attached" to our southern neighbor much more than the average tourist from a cruise ship who gets to know Croatia in a few days (some only in a few hours). We especially love Istria, the Kvarner Bay and North Dalmatia, so we present you some pearls that are beautiful even on autumn days.
One of the oldest European zoos is also considered a true architectural gem and is one of the few located right in the center of the city. It opened its doors in 1866, which became one of the most photographed sights of the Hungarian capital.
The giant panda, which is so often seen in cartoons, on the logos of the most important institutions for the protection of wild animals, and which we like to hold close to us in the form of a plush toy, is a fascinating animal with its appearance and behavior. Because it is so rare in the natural environment, any ZOO that houses pandas is a real hit.
How to introduce the animals that live in our forests to the child? Let alone exotic species from other continents, endangered animal species or even extinct giant dinosaurs? Let's take them to the zoo! The Ljubljana Zoo, located in a landscape park, offers a great insight into the animal world, and with children we can get to know some of the most interesting ZOOs that are famous for their history, architecture and, of course, their inhabitants.
There's something strange in the air lately. Planes make emergency landings, not because of technical problems, but because of arguments that arise due to encroachments on passengers' personal space. These are quarrels reminiscent of disputes between neighbors, except that instead of tree branches looking at the neighbor's land, we are talking about inclined seats that "look" at the neighbor's legroom.
Records fascinate and inspire people, and no wonder then that the best-selling book in the world is the Guinness Book of Records and not (anymore) the Bible. And although breaking into the "Bible" of records is difficult, some people don't even have to apply for a record, because the world notices them on its own. This applies to Predjamski Castle, which was recently recognized as the largest cave castle in the world and can be found in the 60th anniversary edition.
Rijeka is located in the very center of Kvarner and is one of the largest cities in Croatia. The city combines a rich cultural offer, a varied nightlife, beautiful beaches, as a counterbalance to the hustle and bustle of the city, as well as hidden quiet corners of ancient towns. It is in this part of the Adriatic that we find an interesting place to stay in Croatia, the first botel - Hostel Botel Marina.
Kvarner is the region with the longest tradition in tourism in Croatia. It is a region of extraordinary diversity and unique environment, where the coastal area, the mountain area and the islands come together. We could say that Kvarner is a unique outdoor aromatherapy. The combination of a mild climate, the sea, lush vegetation and fresh air from the interior is the reason why spa tourism began to develop in this region quite soon. Of course, we cannot ignore the extremely rich culinary offer, where we can enjoy sophisticated "slow food" restaurants, as well as simple dishes in local "konobas". In any case, we must try the Kvarner shrimps, which are said to be the best in the world!
