The island republic of Maldives lies in the Indian Ocean, about 800 kilometers southwest of Sri Lanka. Coral islands are on average one to two meters above sea level and are surrounded by a lagoon. The capital of Georgia, with a population of 1.3 million, is one of the oldest cities in Transcaucasia. The old part of the city, called Kala, developed under the fortress and extended to the Mktvari River. It is best to start exploring the old part of the city at the Metekhi church, where the history of the city also began.
Although the Middle East is considered the cradle of human civilization, Dubai doesn't offer much of the old. In the old Al Fahidi fortress and the former house of Sheikh Saed al Maktoum, photographs, maps and the past are exhibited, when the few inhabitants were engaged in building boats and searching for pearls.
We also sat down in front of the Meda pastry shop and bravely ordered the first spring ice cream. The Kočevska kepica, which is mixed at Med from all the types of ice cream they have available, was a really sweet fit. We crouched like martins on the sunny platform, from where the view stretches all the way to the parish church of St. Jerne.
You shouldn't go to New York without a well-prepared battle plan. Otherwise, you cannot get lost in the city, as it has a well and logically organized system of streets and avenues.
Although Postojna is known primarily for its karst wonders, it is also recommended to take a walk around the city. On a hill at the edge of the central square, the city church of St. Stephen with two bell towers, built at the end of the 18th century, dominates the center.
With fresh enthusiasm, we drive to Kranj and follow the signs for Jezerska, where Preddvor lies under the steep slopes of the Storžice mountain range. For more than nine centuries, the peaks of the Storžič mountain group have adorned it in the background as a mighty mountain backdrop, which makes many visitors want to climb them.
The most famous tourist spot in the city is the Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Church. It is really big, so you can see it from afar, especially in sunny weather, when its bronze domes glow blindingly.
Sevnica, a sprawling town along the Sava, which used to be given its rhythm by a railway station, where today an old steam locomotive with red collars is on display, is admittedly quite far from the capital, but that does not mean that it is not worth a visit.
Kurentovanje is the biggest carnival event in Slovenia, which brings carnival joy and playfulness to the people of Ptuj. The traditional carnival mask is kurent or korant, which chases away winter and calls for spring with the ringing of bells and ritual.
With its vibrant cosmopolitan nature, Cape Town is the hottest tourist location in Southern Africa. People come there to enjoy the sun, to have fun, to taste the best wines on the planet, produced in the surrounding vineyards, and above all to surrender to that intangible feeling of freedom and boundlessness that makes Cape Town so different from other cities.
Florence does have its own airport, but it is not possible to fly directly to Italy from Brno Airport, so we recommend the modern Euro City Casanova train to travel there. This train takes you from Ljubljana to Venice (Venezia Santa Lucia or Venezia Mestre station), and from there you can continue your journey along the "boot" with others.
