What began as a spiral or shell-like shape of a barrel weekend eventually outgrew conventional frames and resulted in a complex formation: the Klein bottle. If originally the architects of the Australian architectural firm McBride Charles Ryan wanted to capture the playfulness and relaxation of free time and the holiday spirit in the modern weekend, and therefore played with asymmetrical geometric shapes, the game eventually led them to a complex living formation.

A hotel that is not a typical hotel, but a designer hotel made of wood. And it is not intended to accommodate the "masses" of people. But it lies in a dream location. By the coast, by the sea. On the small island of Valkosaari in Helsinki, Finland. The wooden design hotel WISA is a prototype, an experiment of a modern weekend, which bears the signature of the architect Pieta-Linda Auttila.

Shingle House, a contemporary cottage, lies in a poetic landscape in England, on the Dungeness coast in Kent, near Romney Marsh. Dungeness is considered to be one of the largest gravel deposits in Europe, and it is also a protected natural area, extremely rich and picturesque with flora and fauna. The coast is dotted with fishing shacks, mostly owned by artists.

The landscape just outside of Seoul reveals a small settlement of modern weekend houses - bright yellow houses. This was erected to accommodate guests destined for the nearby Morning Calm Botanical Park. The Korean architecture studio Koossino, entrusted with the architectural design, found inspiration in the mysterious statues, the Moai, which make Easter Island a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
