CES 2018: Toyota e-Palette Concept, the cube-shaped delivery trucks of the future

Toyota e-Palette Concept

Toyota presented its vision of the future at this year's CES 2018. This one may not be the prettiest in terms of design at first glance, but it will be that much more useful for everyday purposes. The Toyota e-Palette is a vision of autonomous delivery vehicles, and the project has already attracted the interest of big names such as Amazon, DiDi, Mazda, Pizza Hut and Uber.

Toyota e-Pallets it's because of cube shaped simply put, a "box" on wheels. It will be offered in three lengths, between four and seven meters. Design e-Pallets it really isn't particularly exciting, but in this case it is function takes precedence over aesthetics. Due to the rectangular shape, the use of space is significantly increased. The tall design and lack of rounded corners will allow Uber to transport a larger number of people, while Pizza Hut will be able to fill the space from floor to ceiling with pizzas without any problems. Each subscriber will have the possibility of individual composition of the interior e-Palette.

Toyota is on CES 2018 announced that it intends to create a whole around the e-Palette business ecosystem. The "cubes" will be extremely flexible, and partners will be able to create their own software and technical equipment for their individual needs. Toyota says that if they don't want to, partners won't have to use Toyota's autonomous driving systems, but will be able to install its autonomous systems. The advantage of the joint system would also be that data would be exchanged through the central office, for example about the state of the roads, payments would be forwarded and many other things. Toyota will begin extensive testing this year 2020, so don't expect pizza delivery in a boxy car until then. Toyota plans to use the first e-Palettes on Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020.
