If you're looking for a cheap trip, check out five budget-friendly European cities to visit as soon as possible.

How to cheap travel? Nowadays, traveling in Europe is not as affordable as it used to be. Venice, London, Paris,... these are places that are not friendly to thin wallets. That's why we still find a bunch of places where you can travel more affordably, without being deprived of beauty or attractions.

Choose a cheap trip in Europe

Athens, Greece

It's the Post Office the historical capital of Greece ranked as the cheapest destination for a city break in Europe, as prices are said to have dropped by several percent in recent years. Hotels in Athens are particularly affordable, as they are mainly smaller, family-run accommodations. So if you are looking for cheap travel, Athens is a great choice.

According to the research, 110 euros should be paid for two nights in a three-star hotel.

Lisbon, Portugal

While the Portuguese capital famous for its award-winning restaurants, travelers can still dine here for pennies. Judging by the aforementioned research, Lisbon is said to be among the cheapest in terms of restaurant dining prices (right after Athens). You will shell out just under 3 euros for a beer (unlike London, where the price doubles), and a good euro for the famous Pastel de Nata at Pastéis de Belém.

If you want to stay the night, there are plenty of affordable hotels in Lisbon, and Airbnbs are even cheaper. Some of the most popular Airbnbs in the city can be found for as little as €60 per night.

Riga, Latvia

According to the aforementioned research, Riga is one of the cheapest cities in Europe, and in terms of accommodation prices, it ranks right after Athens. You can meander through the narrow streets of the charming old town, taste local cuisine at street stalls for just a few euros and listen to free concerts on Dome Square.

You can also get to know the city better on a soup, for which you will pay a good 15 euros.

Sofia, Bulgaria

Not only has Bulgaria become the cheapest all-round destination in Europe, it is also becoming increasingly popular due to the affordable skiing offered by Bulgarian ski resorts.

Sofia, the capital, is some 10 km away from the Vitosha mountains, which provide exceptional winter conditions for snow enthusiasts (prices here are downright ridiculous compared to France or Italy).

Berat, Albania

Despite their uniqueness, Berat's unforgettable white Ottoman houses are too often overlooked, while their neighbors on the other side of the Adriatic in Apulia receive far more attention. You can even spend the night in them. Simple, traditional rooms provide an extremely affordable way to stay in this part of Albania, as many have taken over the function of guesthouses or independent hotels.

You will pay about 40 euros for a night here.
