Many of us probably await each new creation by the rebellious Maribor resident, passionate joker and subtle thinker Tone Partljič with tension. This time, the tension may be even more intense, as the stage production is a mixture of different genres, which also combines all the elements that make a theatrical play a hit: nostalgia, rebellion, cruelty and hope that is born from the collective, and last but not least, music and singing. Based on the described characteristics, we can expect something between a good musical that combines the essence of growing up, a drama that indicates that the solution still exists, although it is not simple, and a tragedy that has offered cathartic purification since antiquity. Based on the memoirs of a Maribor resident, Feri Kristan, a German from Banat, Tone Partljič focused on the topic of Maribor's history. In the dramatic work with original music by Emil Holnthaner, we will find a constant conversation with the past, discovering the roots in both great wars (especially the second) of the last century and in the industrial character of the city on the Drava River. The play preserves the memory of Lent, marked by poverty, resistance, comradeship and loyalty. In this way, it offers not only the townspeople themselves, but also the wider audience a homeliness that brings with it certain emotions. The author tried to capture history with the pre-war atmosphere, the cruelty of World War II and the dictatorship of the proletariat after the war, which is a pattern that concerns not only Maribor, but the entire geographical area in which we live. In the "chronicle", the main role is played by a collective hero, a group of boys from Lent, who are united by their youth, the social determination of a poor background and a poor part of the city on the Drava River, a different national origin, a love of music and a kind of social resistance. The producers state at the end of the description that friendship and love break down many barriers and prejudices. The play is performed by the DKD Svoboda theatre group.
