December is truly the most beautiful time of the year. Christmas and New Year holidays are just around the corner. The lights come on and every street and corner is decorated and magically illuminated. People rush to wrap presents and make New Year's resolutions.
Maybe it's snowing right now. Children play and have fun. The smell of cinnamon, gingerbread and mulled wine fills the air. For a moment, it seems that we are part of a fairy tale.
It really is the most magical time of the year.
Christmas is proof that we have weathered all the storms. That we successfully got through a year of ups and downs.
Sometimes these moments in life are the only things that keep us going. They are our small victories, proof that we have overcome all the obstacles that life has put us on our way. Proof that we have overcome pain, loss and sadness. Proof that we survived, even though there were moments when we didn't think we would make it.
Proof that we are really stronger than we think. And that we still have hope.
Even when we are on the verge of losing faith. When it seems we can't take it anymore. Even when we feel too exhausted from trying and failing. Even when we "bleed" from falls. Even when our hearts are no longer capable of loving the way they once were and we are no longer sure what we believe.
Then, in those moments, we still find hope.
Do you know why? Because it's in us. It's a part of us that drives us forward. It is the breath, the food we eat, the sun that gives us life.
Hope is what keeps us going no matter what. Hope takes us into tomorrow. Hope is something we will hold on to as long as we breathe.
To those who have been with me this year, held my hand, encouraged me, made me smile, offered me a shoulder of support, thank you. You don't even realize how I am grateful for your support.
May your last days of this year be happy and bright. And you find the peace, joy and happiness you seek.
Merry and magical Christmas dear friends.
