The Nissan was the only one in our SUV test that was equipped with an automatic 6-speed gearbox and did not have any additional equipment installed, only that which belongs to the Tekna Pack equipment package - only the Qashqai with Premium equipment is better equipped. Rich standard equipment pampered at every step: the car was equipped with convenient unlocking and engine start, which means that the key remained in the purse or trouser pocket, a pleasant temperature was ensured by the dual-zone automatic air conditioning system, the cruise control maintained the speed on long journeys , the panoramic roof was obscured by an electrically powered wallpaper and what else could be listed. The automatic transmission also contributed to driving comfort, but it could shift with less hesitation, and the possibility of manual intervention in the operation of the transmission was also very limited. The four-wheel drive in the Qashqai has three modes of operation - the driver can use a rotary knob to choose between the 2WD settings (drive only to the front pair of wheels), AUTO (drive electronics ensure the proper distribution of drive power between the two axles) and 4WD LOCK (permanent four-wheel drive, where engine power is split 50:50 between the two axles; the mode only works up to a speed of around 45 km/h). The off-road capabilities are at the level of competing products - we tested the car on the roads, where it performed perfectly.
The urban pulse of the car
The advantage of SUVs, even though the automotive industry gave them names in the form of the abbreviations SUV and SAV, lies in their urban character, which makes them elegant enough to park in front of the opera house and reach solid speeds on the highway, and on the other hand, just right "off-road", so that we can use them to drive more safely on forest paths, or to jump over a curb when such parking is prohibited. The automatic transmission, in its own way, makes driving in rush hour easier.
Parent friendly
As befits a car of this size, the rear bench is of course equipped with two ISOFIX anchor points. Unfortunately, it cannot boast of a very large trunk, the doors of which are a danger for tall people, as we can quickly bump into them if we are not careful enough. While children will have enough space on the back bench, from the point of view of adults, this space is significantly more limited - especially in the middle of the back bench.
We noticed
In the test Qashqai, we were really impressed with the special air conditioning function that directed the air flow over the heads of the passengers - highly recommended for those who suffer from air conditioning headaches. We found the lever to open the fuel tank lid from the inside a very practical solution, although it would show its true value in a country without self-service gas stations. We were a little less impressed with the interior of the car, as we thought it was too plasticky - but that's the problem with most cars from the Far East, which seem too "plasticky" to us Europeans. Nissan engineers also deserve a small scolding for not illuminating the switches for opening and closing side windows; only the switch for the driver's window had an impulse function, which is also not very practical. Also, some disposal site wouldn't hurt either.
