With its entry into the market, the new Opel astra seriously shook up the competition in its class - its design followed the guidelines of the larger insignia, which has received quite a few prestigious car awards since its appearance on the market, which certainly gives its smaller sister a good reputation. The test Astra was powered by a 92 kW turbodiesel engine, which belongs to the top of the engine range - only the 2.0 CDTI engine is more powerful than it - and it impressed us with its good fuel consumption, partly also with its liveliness, although we noticed that turbo hole during gear changes from 1st to 2nd gear. That's why we were all the more impressed with the built-in additional equipment - in addition to the Cosmo equipment, there was also: a navigation device, ergonomic AGR sports seats (which pressed us a little, but we probably didn't manage to adjust them properly, as they offered a multitude of different settings), Flex -Ride adaptive suspension with three operating modes (Sport/Tour/Normal) and something else. The selected Flex-Ride setting affected the stiffness of the suspension, the responsiveness of the gas pedal and the power steering - we liked the Sport mode the most, which, among other things, changed the illumination of the gauges from white to red. While driving in the dark, the active xenon headlights were a great help, adjusting the beam of light depending on the speed and direction of travel. The new astra pampers passengers with many storage compartments and a large luggage compartment - perhaps even at the expense of comfort in the rear seats (at least for taller people). Lovers of music would certainly find it useful in the test Astra, as it had as many as 7 built-in speakers and allowed for easy integration of an iPod into the audio system. Built-in parking sensors prevent you from accidentally scratching the blue paint while maneuvering in narrow parking lots. As the conclusion of our test, we can safely say that we felt good with the astra both in narrow city streets and on longer routes, and that it is definitely a car that shows great promise.
