It is customary in the automotive industry that every time a new car model comes out, it is claimed to be completely new - in most cases this is not the case, but with the unveiling of the all-new BMW 1 this time, we can completely agree with the claim.
Brand new BMW 1 differs from its predecessor in almost everything. It is preserved base car with cut off behind, which is now receiving a drive for the first time on front wheeled couple. The same story can be seen at design, who took care of roots changes both outside and inside the car. The front fascia is significantly increased, 'kidneys' but they are with each other united and even more noticeable. In contrast to the ever-growing successors of the current models, the BMW 1 for 5 mm shorter, but it will be due to front-wheel drive more space inside.
The luggage space has increased for 20 liters, which means that it is available for 380 liters, and when the seats are collapsed, for nothing 1200 liters. The most powerful version of the BMW 1, with 2.0 liter M135i xDrive engine, it is also the strongest version 4-cylinder of BMW engines until now. It has 306 horse powers, four-wheeled drive, 8-speed automatic gearbox and a little more aggressive design.
As already mentioned, the length of the latest BMW 1 decreased, but they did increased width and height car. As a result, passengers in the back seat will have more space for knees, the head and elbows. It will also be easier to use the luggage compartment, as the narrowest part of the luggage opening is wider for 67 mm.
They are available electric tailgate, which is another innovation of the 1 series. The dashboard works known, as we have already noticed it in the latest models of the BMW car. The basic version offers 8.8-inch a touch screen, and for better equipped versions we have it available 10.25-inch the screen that complements it digital gauges screen in the same size.
Two petrol and three diesel engines are available at launch. The petrol M135i xDrive will be joined by another 118i, but it's about 1.5-liter 3-cylinder with 140 (103 kW) horsepower.
If diesels are more to your liking, you can choose between engines 116d, which is again 1.5-liter 3-cylinder with 115 (85 kW) horsepower. Engine 118d it is 2.0 liter 4 cylinder with 150 (110 kW) horsepower, and the engine is even more powerful 120d xDrive, which has tempting 190 (140 kW) horsepower.
They are available in various combinations 6-speed manual or 7- respectively 8-speed automatic gearbox. More powerful gasoline and diesel engines are already installed as standard xDrive four-wheel drive.
BMW 1 will be presented in more detail in September at the car show in Frankfurt, and we will get the first examples to showrooms soon after.
