For your anniversary, 100th concert, Twotonebinas, imports oipunk legends COCKNEY REJECTS. Almost ten years after their first and so far last performance here, they will be June 3rd performed in Canteen at the trough, and with them the current standard-bearers of Slovenian oipunk Shit in the fist.
Cockney Rejests they come from East London, where they emerged as a band in 1979. The band was founded by two brothers Micky and Jeff Geggus, the latter better known as Jeff “Stinky” Turner. In the first lineup that recorded EP The flares and slippers, and they were still Vince Riordan and Andy Scott. The mentioned EP soon attracted a rapidly growing crowd of followers, and it also convinced the EMI label, which quickly brought the band under its roof and released the first single I am not a fool, in December of the same year. The single charted at number sixty-five and loudly signaled the band's arrival.
A bunch of singles followed, slowly but steadily climbing towards the top of the charts until they were gone Greatest Cockney Rip Off finally led to a performance in the Top of the pops. All of them also found their way onto the first album Greatest hits, volume 1, including an adapted football club anthem West Ham United, which the band wholeheartedly supports. The second album saw the first personnel changes, but this was not recognized in their growing popularity. Greatest hits, volume 2, only cemented them as a leading street punk band, song Whoa whoa whoa however, it inspired the naming of a new music genre. She renamed the street punk scene, which replaced the dying 77's punk, to oipunk.
With the fourth album The Power and the glory they are Cockney Rejects entered the territory of heavy rock, where they continued to grow more and more. Which did not bring them any ovations from fans who wanted to continue street punk Cockney Rejects and not the heavy metal band of the same name. Their star therefore slowly waned and, in the mid-1980s, finally went out. At least apparently, because years later she lit up again and brought her brother back into action Geggs, and a bassist with them by Tony van Frater and by Less Cobb on the drums. Album Greatest hits volume 4 and Out of the gutter, returned them to their old glory, and put them on stages all over the world again. Tickets for the reunion concert played in West ham working men's club, in East London, fetched hundreds of pounds a piece on the black market.
The biggest hit Cockney Rejects he was in England The Greatest Cockney Rip-Off – a parody Sham 69 omada Hersham boys. Otherwise, their music did not achieve the same commercial success as some other related bands, mainly because of the sharpness of the topics the band dealt with. The violence expressed in the lyrics was often reflected at concerts and the band had to defend itself against attacks - often from supporters of other football clubs, opponents of their beloved West Ham United, which, at least for brothers Jeff and Mikey, who were amateur youth boxers, is just fine. Cockney Rejects, did not deal only with violence in their texts, but also expressed contempt for all politicians, rejected media statements that they were supported by the British movement and that members supported right-wing ideas, and advocated for the little man.
Cockney Rejects' last album, Unforgiven, was released in 2007. With punchy lyrics, a modernized sound and energy, it proves that Cockney Rejects haven't lost their sharpness and power even after all these years. This is also proven by the explosive concerts for which they have always been known.
Z Cockney Rejects Twotonebinas he also puts his home ones on stage Shit in the fist, who recently released their second, excellent album New songs, old shit.
The Twotonebinas project is part of the cultural program of the Anarktika Cultural and Artistic Association, which is housed in the Gromka Club. It is co-financed by MOL Kultura and MZK.
