Many fans of world music star Andrea Bocelli have many reasons to be happy this autumn. The Italian tenor released two new albums on October 21, namely Opera: The ultimate collection with arias from the operas of Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini and the second album with Puccini's opera Manon Lescaut. At the same time, on November 29, a unique musical spectacle will take place in Arena Zagreb - Bocelli's great solo concert.
Bocelli, who became completely blind at the age of 12, performed as a pianist in local clubs while studying law and tried to get a musical education from renowned professors.
During the rise of pop music, he made a U-turn and ventured into various commercial and pop music projects, but never neglected his love for classical music and opera. It is this duality that has shaped his recognizable musical style and method of interpretation, which are based on operatic singing, but touch a much wider audience.
Bocelli's international rise had begun in 1994, when he won the festival San Remo with the song "Il Mare Calmo della Sera". This was followed by his first major operatic role in Verdi's Macbeth, and for Christmas of the same year he already sang the composition "Adeste Fideles" (Hittite Christians) to Pope John Paul II. and several tens of thousands of believers in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.
Despite often sharing the stage with José Carreras and Placido Domingo, he became much more popular than his two older colleagues. Many compare him to Enrico Caruso and Frank Sinatra due to his influence on contemporary and popular music.
