Tattoos are like the tip of the iceberg. Usually we only see bits of it. Have you ever wondered what is hidden under the clothes of passing tattooed people? London-based photographer Alan Powdrill proves with his Covered photo series that people who love tattoos and hide their bodies, tattooed from head to toe, under their everyday clothes are real works of art.
People who love tattoos, are not necessarily members of certain alternative subcultures known for their love of dark style, tattoos, shocking hairstyles and piercings. No, they can be completely everyday people, who would otherwise never be said to have a love for the body paintings in question.
London photographer Alan Powdrill highlighted this fact in his photographic series in which he juxtaposed photographs of clothed and undressed people who were with their head-to-toe tattooed bodies veritable works of art. Some of them started getting acquainted with tattooing later in life, even in their 40s and 50s, while others have cultivated their love for tattoos since their teenage years.
