Madly in love same-sex couples break taboos

With his emotional and impressive photo series, New York artist Braden Summers managed to break the mentality that true love cannot develop between two men or two women.

Braden Summers, who himself is gay, says he found that “most of the images same-sex partners hyper sexualized in the media”. All Love Is Equal or All Loves Are the Same, as the title of his photo series could be called in our country, Braden took during a six-week trip through the USA, Great Britain, France, Lebanon, India and South Africa.

The series more than eloquently testifies to what its author thinks about the general belief of the public that LGBT population, i.e. gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals, cannot feel the kind of love shared by heterosexual couples. "I wanted to give the public a glimpse into what same-sex couples really look like," says Summers.

Braden presented romantic and dreamlike images of same-sex couples, as the public is already accustomed to similar photos of heterosexual couples. And that's exactly why Braden wanted to show same-sex couples in the same light, because according to him, the fact that people don't see such images in the media proves that same-sex people still have a long fight ahead of them to achieve equality with others.

Summers went on a world tour after being on Kickstarter raised enough funds. People there supported him with as much as 27,800 euros.

The photographer and his producer are the biggest problems when filming Greg Jaroszewski had in Lebanon, since gay organizations they were not responsive, and the couples they met did not want to identify themselves. Nevertheless, they managed to take a great photo of the lesbian couple drinking tea.
