Exhibition of photographs by Daido Moriyama in London

Daida Moriyama

Will we be rushing to London between November 7th and December 12th? Then the exhibition of photographs by one of the most influential contemporary Japanese photographers is not to be missed.

V Hamiltons Gallery under the title Silkscreens, 16 screen prints on canvas, made on the basis of selected photographs of this great artist, are exhibited. Photos by Moriyama they are dark and grainy with strong contrasts, and they are distinguished by his characteristic experimental approach and playing with light that passes into abstraction.

His work is instinctive and has a special vulnerability, which is most likely a reflection of the times and conditions in which he grew up, as he was born in 1938 in Osaka. His work was also influenced by many Japanese and European artists, among whom he drew inspiration; Andy Warhol and William Klein are certainly among the most famous.
