Departure One: a caravan and a house on the water in one

Departure One

It is already well known that the nations north of Slovenia love camping. So it is not surprising that the Germans went one step further. They revived an old idea and designed the Departure One caravan, which can also be used as a 'house' on the water.

Departure One is a caravan, long 7.8 meters, and her lower part is actually a hull made of aluminum, which is resistant to sea water. This provides more possibilities for use on on land or on water. The trailer is not at all spartanly equipped and has enough space for 4 people. We have a small shower room, storage cupboards and a kitchen with a sink, microwave, fridge, stove and pantry.

We install it on the back of the trailer engine and we manage it through 'steering wheel', which is installed in the front part. A lot is installed there panoramic window, for a better view and easier maneuvering on the water. On the roof, we have a neat one sun terrace with chairs or sunbeds, but they are also available solar cells for obtaining clean electricity. The Departure One is available in a variety of colors and costs from 58,000 euros further, and tax must be added to the price. The principle of combining a caravan and a boat into one is not a new concept, as we have already seen something similar in 60s of the last century. But apparently the time has come for them to come up with an idea resurrect again. Maybe this time there will be more listens to such a 'double' vacation.
