Battle of the Wine, Spain

The Haro Festival, or Battle of the Wine, takes place in the city every year Haro, the region La Rioja. The event starts June 29 at 9:00 a.m, when the mayor announces that the participants can begin pour wine over. The goal is for each person to be completely drenched in wine. Each year, approx 500 liters of ruddy drop.

When supplies last, participants moved to the main square, where late into the night they celebrate and watch bullfights between calves. Presumably none they don't kill the bull.

Water Gun Festival, South Korea

Water guns are so popular that For three years, this festival has been considered the best in Seoul. Every year, participants must face a new enemy. They did that last year"Invasion of Android“.

Koreans have known the mud festival for years 1998, whose purpose was initially of an advertising nature – it was a campaign for cosmetics, which is made from mud in Boryeong, but later developed into a festival that attracted more than 329 million people.

Festival participants witness a diverse musical program, delicious food and, of course, food rolling in the mud, which is the main attraction. Many studies are said to prove that this mud is supposed to have a stronger effect healing properties as the Dead Sea in Israel.

The Boryeong Mud Festival will be held this year from July 19 to 28.

Cascamorras, Spain

The Cascamorras festival that takes place in the cities Guadix and Base, due to its interesting history, has been declared a festival with important international and touristic significance. It is less well known outside of Grenada, but is attended by approx 20,000 people, running through the streets covered in black olive oil.

In both cities, the participants they fight for the image of the Mother of Mercy, because the legend says that the image can be possessed by the person who manages to get to the image, without anyone soiling it with oil. And while in one place they anoint themselves with a dark oil that looks like petroleum, in another they pelt themselves with eggs and flour.

The Cascamorras festival will take place this year September 6 in Baza and September 9 in Guadix.

Chinchilla Watermelon Festival

Chinchilla is a town in Australia famous for its watermelons. The festival takes place every year, number of activities, which you can perform at some daily event, is almost unlimited. You can experience skiing in a watermelon field, rodeo, group competitive games... probably the most interesting is heaviest watermelon competition. It's a record 100 kilograms.

The Watermelon Festival takes place during the month in February.

Battle of the Oranges, Italy

The festival is very similar to the Spanish one Tomatini, where people fling themselves with tomatoes, except that in this case they are oranges a means of entertainment. It is an event with a long history that is supposed to symbolized the story of the people, who resist tyranny.

Each year, the festival gathers approx 100.000 people. One of the groups that they fight for oranges, wins, and more than 250 tons of oranges. Italians think this is important to them"liberating" event.

The Battle of the Oranges Festival takes place throughout the month in March.

  • Golden Retriever Festival, Scotland: dog owners bring their pets and enjoy the dog party. Last year they broke the record, as 361 dogs came.
  • Monkey Festival, Thailand: the locals believe that monkeys bring good luck, so every year they organize a party where more than 5,000 kilograms of food is prepared for the cute creatures.
  • Cooper's Hill Cheese Rolling and Wake, England: the participants run from the cheese rolling hill. The festival is said to be dangerous as many people get injured in the battle for the winner. Interestingly, the cheese can supposedly roll at a speed of 112 kilometers per hour.
