Did you know? Interesting facts about Nutella that will surprise you!

1. Nutella was created out of necessity!
During World War II, there was a cocoa shortage, so in 1946, Italian confectioner Pietro Ferrero created a spread made from hazelnuts and a small amount of cocoa. At the time, it was called Giandujot and was in the form of a hard cube that people would slice onto bread. It was only later that the recipe was transformed into the creamy spread we know today!

2. Nutella is sold every 2.5 seconds!
If all the jars of Nutella sold in a year were lined up, they would be enough to circle the world 1.8 times! This means that Nutella is not just a sweet spread, but a true global sensation.

3. The hazelnuts in Nutella come from Turkey!
Approximately 70% of the world's hazelnut production comes from Turkey. So many go into Nutella that Ferrero buys a quarter of all hazelnuts produced in the world!

4. “Nutella riots” once broke out in France!
In 2018, one chain of stores offered Nutella at a 70% discount, causing chaos. Customers physically pushed and fought over the last jars, and stores had to call the police.

5. There's even a World Nutella Day!
Fans of this chocolate-hazelnut wonder are celebrating World Nutella Day every year on February 5. The day was created by American blogger Sara Rosso, and Ferrero later officially adopted it as Nutella Day.

So, Nutella is not just an ordinary spread, but a true global phenomenon! Which is better – store-bought or homemade Nutella?
