If you thought you'd seen it all - love triangles, fashion drama and Parisian rooftops sprinkled with emotion - think again. Emily in Paris, one of Netflix's most-watched series, is back for its fifth season. But be warned: this time Emily Cooper doesn't stop at the Eiffel Tower. Oh no, now she's taking us to Rome and Venice too - as if someone had given the series another slice of pizza and a glass of Chianti to top it off. What does Emily in Paris Season 5 bring?
Emily is returning in December. – and in two cities at once! In Netflix's hit Emily in Paris Season 5, we're in for heartbreak, high fashion, and... royal connections?! Oui, this time it's going to be hotter than an Italian cappuccino at midnight.
First and foremost, this is still the story of Emily, an American with a meticulously curated Instagram feed and an even more confusing love situation. But in Season 5, Emily finally gets a breath of Italian air, opens an office in Rome, and embarks on a new romance with an Italian fashion prince. Meanwhile, Paris doesn't sleep—and old acquaintances and unpredictable choices will ensure she still has more questions than answers (and more shoes than days in the week).
Two cities, one Emily, and a bunch of torn hearts
Creator Darren Star has already hinted: "It's going to be a tale of two cities. Rome and Paris. And Emily will literally juggle life, love and stilettos between them." And we wonder - will Emily even walk or will she just float from the fashion scene into romantic misunderstandings?
In the first exclusive glimpses into the new season, we see her in Venice – of course with the wind in her hair and Italian heartthrob Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) by her side, while she cuts through the waves in her boat as if these were the last minutes of a movie The Dolce VitaIf this isn't Netflix's version of Italian reverie, then we don't know what is.
Emily and Paris Season 5: Old cast, new faces and... a princess?
Of course, the entire Parisian team returns: Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), Mindy (Ashley Park), Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), Julien (Samuel Arnold), Luc (Bruno Gouery), Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), Antoine (William Abadie) and others. Paris remains the backdrop for fashion battles and those true French silent looks that tell more than five monologues in English.
But beware – there are also new faces waiting for us in season 5: Bryan Greenberg as American Jake (because apparently Emily isn’t the only one with a visa), Michèle Laroque as Yvette, Sylvie’s ex-Chanel colleague, and – the icing on the cake – Minnie Driver as Princess Jane, Sylvie’s acquaintance who jumped from the fashion industry to the royal family. Who says the series isn’t still completely exaggerated? (And that's exactly why we love her.)
Gabriel or Marcello? Or will Emily finally choose herself?
The end of season four was anything but peaceful: Emily moved to Rome, burned bridges (and a few hearts), and embarked on a new relationship with Marcello – young, successful, and – surprisingly – understanding. But at the last moment, Gabriel woke up from his French melancholy and realized that Emily might be it is not just a passing inspiration, but something more.
"We want Emily to find a balance between her career and her personal life," says Lily Collins. And for a change – no smudged mascara. Marcello is supposed to help her with that. Well, we'll see if her romance with the Italian lasts longer than her wine-stained handbag.
Emily still reigns supreme on Netflix
Despite all the criticism (and accusations that Paris is more of a postcard than reality), Emily in Paris has once again taken the top spot on Netflix in its fourth season – almost 20 million views in just four days, a presence in the Top 10 in 93 countries and four weeks among the most watched. Yes, apparently people true We can't resist beautiful dresses and love complications.
Where is Emily going now?
The question hanging in the air: will Emily stay in Rome, return to Paris, or... lose her smartphone somewhere along the way and finally live a moment without a story? (We know not - but let's leave it to our imagination.)
One thing is clear – Emily will once again take us on a fashionable, emotional and sometimes downright absurd journey through Europe. And that's exactly what we need in December.
Emily in Paris Season 5 returns on December 18. And we'll be there!
