The film is based on Orson Scott Card's classic juvenile futuristic novel and tells the story of how a brilliant and incredibly talented twelve-year-old embarks on training to become the greatest military commander on Earth.
Decades after a devastating attack by insect-like creatures, the surviving Earthlings prepare to strike again by training a new generation of geniuses to become warriors. They select only the best for the elite military school and train them through advanced computer simulations and relentless game-style exercises in a violent and highly competitive environment, knowing that only one will be chosen to lead them.
