We will go on a journey through America with Erik Friedlander, one of the most respected cellists in the world of jazz music. This is the title he gave to his first concert in Slovenia. The musician, who is known in the world of jazz music for his collaboration with the legendary John Zorn, and in the world of alter pop music for his collaborations with musicians such as Laurie Anderson, Courtney Love and Alanis Morissette, will perform in the Styrian capital. He drew inspiration for the project Taking Trips to America from the nostalgia of the 1960s and 1970s, when he traveled thousands of kilometers across the new continent with his father, the famous photographer Lee Friedlander. His music has been described as pure americano, in which the lonely guitars, mandolins and banjos of the American expanses echo, as well as the sounds of the neuroticism of the metropolis. His multimedia performance is a celebration of the American way of life from the golden age road movies. With every note of his cello, he tells us the stories of America. The project is a virtuoso masterpiece that will eventually become a classic of American music. We are offered a great opportunity for the cheapest and fastest trip to the American continent. Our pilot will be Erik Friedlander, who will show us all the splendor and misery of America through music in just over an hour.
