Fifteen events by various foreign and domestic authors have ensured that we will find interesting and innovative content of the highest quality in the program of this year's international performing arts festival Ex Ponto. In the program, two events stand out in particular, the opening and the closing, in which almost ten countries participate, as many festivals and theater groups. The first play, The King Dies, which will have its world premiere on the first day of the festival, was staged by the world-renowned director Silvio Purcarete, who impressed last year with the play Faust in Edinburgh at the most prestigious theater festival. Eugène Ionesco's drama deals with man's vulnerable existence on the one hand in exaggerated grandeur, while on the other hand he relativizes it again and again with sarcastic humor and sarcasm, thus revealing the comic and tragic dimensions of a previously lost struggle. We can expect an interesting play with the now classic text, so that it is presented to us in a more domestic context. The closing performance My name is red is the work of the ambitious young Macedonian director Martin Kočovski, based on the motifs of Orhan Pamuk's novel of the same name. The story takes place in the 16th century, when the sultan orders a group of the best miniaturists to create a book that goes beyond rigid tradition. The commission causes an ideological conflict between the Ottoman and Western views of painting, between the old and the new. The author uses the color red as an inspiration for passion, art and creativity and transcending differences. The rest of the program content offers performances by selected European authors and quite a few premieres by Slovenian authors - a unique presentation of the state of domestic theater: Ivica Buljan premieres M. Sperr's Hunting Scenes from Lower Bavaria, Branko Potočan the play Through the Eyes of Touch, the KUD Ljud group Električno čajanko, which will took place in the apartment at Slovenska cesta 28, Marek Bečko Grimm Brothers' Snow White. The festival offers an overview of the modern guidelines of the world theater in interesting, even unconventional venues, such as: the already mentioned apartment, Luna's garden in Kranj, the stage of the Glej theater and the Stare mestne elektrarne.
