A box with 22 photographic negatives frozen in ice for a century was discovered in Antarctica!
The great discovery of the organization The Antarctic Heritage Trust announced in early December that it was the footage of Ernest Shackleton's expedition, called Ross Sea Party, between the years 1914 and 1917. They had quite a few problems during the restoration, with the negatives that had been taken at the time. Mark Strange, an expert in restoring old photographs, came to their aid.
After cleaning the troublesome mold, he sent the negatives to the New Zealand Micrographic Institute, where they were digitally scanned. Frozen in time, they are now discovering the magical scenes of an icy adventure, but at the same time, at least for now, they are silent about the identity of the one on the other side of the lens.
