The Fantastic Four are back – and with a bang! The final trailer for the long-awaited Marvel adventure Fantastic Four: First Class is finally here, opening a brand new (and very bold) chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If you thought the MCU couldn’t surprise you anymore – well, hold on to your space helmets.
Fantastic 4: First Steps! At the center of the action, we once again find the legendary foursome: the brilliant and slightly self-absorbed Reed Richards – Mr. Fantastic (Pedro Pascal, of course), the invisible but emotionally visible Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), the hot-blooded Johnny Storm – The Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), who could easily warm up even the coldest halls, and of course, the solid as granite Ben Grimm – The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), who carries a heart bigger than his fists.
Set in the retro chic of the 1960s – a time when spacesuits were silver and hairstyles were high – the Fantastic Four reunite for the first time as a (slightly dysfunctional but loving) family and immediately find themselves in conflict with galactic forces: the mighty Galactus is coming, and in his wake the mysterious Silver Surfer (Julia Garner) is shining. A cheerful classic? Perhaps. A spectacle? Undoubtedly.
Kubrick would put on 3D glasses
Director Matt Shakman and his team have created a true visual extravaganza that clearly grew up with the films of Stanley Kubrick, the Fleischer brothers and, of course, Marvel comics. The practical sets, elegantly outdated space suits and aesthetic that screams “retro is the new modern” create the feeling that we have fallen into a parallel universe – one where science and style are equally important.
“With this film, we want to bring the magic of the first comic book stories closer to the audience while creating something completely fresh and unexpected,” Shakman confided. Translation: be prepared for nostalgic heartbreak and a few light years of imagination.
New era, old chemistry
Fantastic 4: First Steps are not only a prelude to Marvel Phase 6 (yes, we're already there!), but also a warm, action-packed, and sparkly ode to a team that has proven time and time again that the greatest battles are fought within the family. Action? Sure. Humor? Don't worry, The Human Torch has plenty of lighters. But what really sticks out is the chemistry between the characters - the genuine, slightly chaotic, and very watchable one.
Fans of the old comics will get a bunch of nods to the classics, and new viewers will get the perfect starting point for their journey into the Marvel galaxy. The film promises spectacular scenes, witty dialogue, and charisma that even Tony Stark himself would not be ashamed of (if he were still around – at least in this universe).
Ready for takeoff?
Fantastic 4: First Steps hits the big screen on July 23rd – so it’s the perfect time to take a break from the summer heat (or your family vacation) at the cinema. Grab your tickets, get ready for a cosmic journey, and remember – sometimes you have to take one giant step back to the 1960s to move Marvel forward.
