Many roads cross the migration routes of many species of animals, which they use for seasonal migrations, for feeding, breeding or searching for a new habitat. It is true that animals can cross regional and local roads, but there is a danger of a vehicle colliding with animals. To mitigate the negative effects of roads and highways on the habitat of animals, special crossings for wild animals are being built around the world in the form of overpasses and underpasses.
Every year, thousands of animals end their lives on the road. It was only in 2015 on Slovenian roads run together just right 7167 animals, of which 4758 roe deer, 93 wild boars, 122 deer, seven fallow deer, four chamois, eight bears, 848 foxes, 472 badgers, 332 white martens, 31 golden martens, she reported Hunting Association of Slovenia.
