Sony's FES smartwatch was being developed in secret, or rather, under the "pseudonym" of Fashion Entertainments, as they didn't want to sign their name to a potentially unsuccessful product. So they financed it right through the Makauke platform (Japanese Kickstarter), by which they sensed the market situation and the time, and more than 20 thousand euros collected, showed that a watch with an e-ink screen is worth making and Sony's name.
O smart watches a lot of ink was spilled this year, and they mostly had it all LCD screen. But not Sony's minimalistic FES smart watch, which uses the time display e-ink and is visually more of an approximation analog wristwatch rather than the prevailing trend of smartwatches, which are like something that escaped from the future. And why e-ink, which after colorfulness (color palette) does not reach the knees of the LCD? You probably know that the same technology is used by the majority of e-readers (Kindle, Kobo,...) and that such a screen is quite large less strain on the eyes like a glowing LCD.
Sony's watch is ideal for those who don't want "special effects" on their wrist, but at the same time don't want to be run over by time. FES is kind of a compromise between nostalgia and futurism of this fashion accessory, s chameleon dial and classic round shape (with a diameter of 40 mm and a thickness of 7 mm), which, like the screen type, separates it even more from most of the others, which are mostly rectangular (I can only remember the LG watch as round G Watch R).

Because this one 50 grams heavy watch technologically "ascetic" oriented, its electricity consumption is extremely low and allows just 60-day battery autonomy. It is coming to the shelves May 2015, when other Sony products were also expected to hit the market, where the Japanese were experimenting with e-ink (butterflies, shoe accessories, etc.).
