Zinc has the characteristics of both wind and brass. Due to its softness, flexibility and dynamic range, its unique sound has often been compared to the human voice, which was the main model of former instrumentalists. The musical instrument flourished in the second half of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century. The virtuosos of the time were famous for their extravagant improvised variations and diminutives. Doron David Sherwin revives such practice with his own arrangements of motets, madrigals and dances by the greatest Italian and English masters.
