Medieval ballads, traditional hymns and instrumental music from Sweden, Estonia and Ukraine
At the end of last year's festival, the members of the Ulv ensemble took us among the heroes, dwarves and dragons of the Old Icelandic saga about the cursed Rhine gold. In their new program, they interweave traditional hymns and ancient Swedish ballads, which are connected to both Icelandic mythology and the European ballad tradition. Many texts have been preserved without music; for them, the ensemble created new melodies based on medieval motifs and suitable folk tunes.
